Join us for a variety of programs surrounding Harry Boardman's exhibit! First, stop by the evening of the first Friday of June, meet Harry Boardman and his friends, and enjoy refreshments. Second, learn more about Boardman's process and his artwork by enrolling in our summer programs!

Join us for an Open Studio Day, July 18th, 2009, from 10am-2pm. Meet and greet Boardman, see more of Boardman's work, and engage in drawing and painting monsters! Boardman creates a new monster every day. His monsters can be found on his blog, 365.monsters.blogspot.com. Second, engage in an in-depth look at Boardman's landscape drawings and paintings, and participate in a variety of drawing and painting activities with Boardman. We'll go outside for observational drawing activities and experiment with drawing and painting techniques and media as we create our own landscape paintings.

If you're interested in participating in our summer camp programs, program descriptions and registration forms can be found on our website. Or email rebecca@schwenkfelder.com.

New Heritage Shop Items: Little Whittles

Julius, Rooster

Julius Park, a homeschool student in our German class and our family workshops sells his "Little Whittles", a collection of hand carved roosters and egrets, in our Heritage Shop. Julius began whittling at age 8, and has taken classes with Mr. Chris Lubkemann from Lancaster, PA. Julius submitted his woodcarvings as part of our Student Exhibit of Art and Literature, and decided to sell them in our Heritage Shop. Julius handcrafts all of the "Little Whittles" by himself. His roosters and other creations start at $9.00. For availability, call the Heritage Center (215) 679-3103.

Brown Bag Lecture spotlight: Schwenkfelder Keyboard Music with Moravian Graduate Matt Swiss

Matt Swiss, a recent graduate of Moravian College, will present a concert of selections from a manuscript volume in the hand of Anna Siesholtz (1885-1911), May 13, noon, and May 17th, 2:00pm, at the Heritage Center as part of our Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series. This is the second installment of a two part program on Schwenkfelder music. The first part, Schwenkfelder vocal music, was performed last October by the Mostly Monteverdi Ensemble, led by Swiss.
