Treasures of the Collection
Pennsburg, PA—The Board of Directors of The Society of the Descendants of the Schwenkfeldian Exiles, 105 Seminary Street, Pennsburg, PA, invites the public an illustrated presentation, "Treasures of the Collection," on Sunday, October 23, 2:30 pm in the Heritage Center Meeting Room.
Curator of Collections Candace Perry, Archivist Hunt Schenkel, and Associate Director of Research Allen Viehmeyer will present illustrated talks showing and describing some of the treasures of the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center Collection. Join us for a glimpse of unique objects, invaluable treasures, and some staff favorites from the archive and museum collections.
This presentation will give you a peek inside the wealth of books, manuscripts, and three dimensional objects that make up our collection as see through the eyes of the Heritage Center staff. Prior to the program, the Society will hold its Annual Business meeting at 2:00 pm. The Heritage Center is handicap accessible and refreshments will follow the presentation.
The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center was founded in 1884 as an informal collection in a private home to assure the preservation of the Schwenkfelders' cultural identity. Today the Heritage Center, a not-for-profit organization, is still preserving, interpreting, and documenting the history of this German Protestant group along with their Pennsylvania German Heritage. The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; Thursdays 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm; and Sundays 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
