Schwenkfelder Hosts Book Signing for Sgt Clyde Hoch's Vietnam Memoir
Pennsburg, PA—On November 13, 2011, Veteran's Day weekend, the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center will host a book signing and presentation with Pennsburg native and Vietnam Veteran Sergeant Clyde Hoch at 2:00 pm.
Clyde Hoch's Tracks, published in 2010 is a personal memoir reflecting his experiences in the 1st Tank Battalion Charlie Company First Marine Division from 1968-1969 in Vietnam. Tracks is a raw Vietnam War narrative that reveals his combat experiences in the tank crew, relationships with civilians and battalion friends, and reflects upon the various attitudes of service members in the late 1960s. In addition, Tracks includes short stories provided by friends and fellow service men. Hoch will share his compelling personal narrative from his experiences in boot camp three days after his high school graduation, to his reflections of doubt, commitment, and feelings as a Marine throughout and immediately following the Vietnam War.
Tracks will be available for purchase and signing following Hoch's presentation at 2:00 pm at the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center. Hoch's presentation and book signing is free and open to the public.
The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center was founded in 1884 as an informal collection in a private home to assure the preservation of the Schwenkfelders' cultural identity. Today the Heritage Center, a not-for-profit organization, is still preserving, interpreting, and documenting the history of this German Protestant group along with their Pennsylvania German Heritage. The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; Thursdays 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm; and Sundays 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The Heritage Center is closed to the public on Mondays. For additional information call 215–679–3103 or visit our website www.schwenkfelder.com
