Boyertown Junior High East Art Exhibit to Open at the Schwenkfelder Heritage Center

The Board of Directors of the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, 105 Seminary Street, Pennsburg, PA, invites the public to an opening exhibit reception celebrating the work of art students from Boyertown Junior High East on June 18th, 2011, from 12pm to 2pm at the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center. The work of 19 art students from Boyertown Junior High East will be on exhibit from June 12 through July 31 in the Meeting Room Gallery at the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center.

The exhibit at the Heritage Center features artwork from sixteen 9th graders, two 8th graders, and one 7th grader under the direction of art teachers Ms. Jana Heffner, Mr. Steve Fegley, and Mrs. Pamela Hendrix from Boyertown Junior High East. "We are all very proud of our students' artistic accomplishments," said Ms. Jana Heffner, art teacher at Boyertown Junior High East, "They have worked very hard over the past year to present an outstanding art show for the community."

Student artists were selected for exhibition at the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center by a student run voting process at Junior High East the week of May 29, 2011. Students were awarded certificates and letters of congratulation on their artistic achievements and an opportunity for exhibition from Rebecca Lawrence, Museum Educator at the Heritage Center. The exhibit opens June 12, 2011, and runs through July 31, 2011.

The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center was founded in 1884 as an informal collection in a private home to assure the preservation of the Schwenkfelders' cultural identity. Today the Heritage Center, a not-for-profit organization, is still preserving, interpreting, and documenting the history of this German Protestant group along with their Pennsylvania German Heritage. The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; Thursdays 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm; and Sundays 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The Heritage Center is closed to the public on Mondays. For additional information call 215–679–3103 or visit our website www.schwenkfelder.com
