Noted Regional Artist Presents Gallery Talk
Pennsburg, PA ---
The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, 105 Seminary Street, Pennsburg, invites the public to a free Brown Bag lecture on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at noon for a gallery talk by Julie Longacre entitled, "From a Journal to a Book". This presentation will be repeated on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at 2:00 pm in the Heritage Center Meeting Room.
Noted regional artist Julie Longacre will show her personal journals–the origin of some of the illustrations for her recently published book The Place I Keep. She will describe how she pieced together the pictures and poems that represent her life into a published book and stress the importance of keeping a journal, regardless of whom you may be.
Julie's presentation will take place in the Heritage Center Meeting Room which is featuring her work in an exhibit of paintings and poems from her new book. Julie will be available to sign books and talk to attendees about her paintings. Most artwork in the exhibit is available for purchase.
The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center was founded in 1884 as an informal collection in a private home to assure the preservation of the Schwenkfelders' cultural identity. Today the Heritage Center, a not-for-profit organization, is still preserving, interpreting, and documenting the history of this German Protestant group along with the history of the Upper Perkiomen Valley. The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; Thursdays 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm; and Sundays 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The Heritage Center is closed to the public on Mondays. For additional information call 215-679-3103 or visit our website www.schwenkfelder.com.
