Caspar Schwenckfeld was forty years old when he voluntarily left Silesia, Germany to live the remaining 30 years of his life in exile. In exile he lived in southern and southwestern portions of the old German Empire. This slide presentation tells the story of Schwenckfeld's life in exile, focusing on the cities and towns where he lived and the interesting people he met.

The Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center was founded in 1884 as an informal collection in a private home to assure the preservation of the Schwenkfelders' cultural identity. Today the Heritage Center, a not-for-profit organization, is still preserving, interpreting and documenting the history of this German Protestant group, along with the history of the Upper Perkiomen Valley.
