HERITAGE CENTER COLLABORATES WITH LOCAL ARTS ACADEMY TO OFFER MUSEUM STUDIES COURSE

PENNSBURG, Pa. - The Board of Directors of the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, 105 Seminary Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073, and the Master’s Academy of the Fine Arts (MAFA) of East Greenville, PA, announce a six week Museum Studies course for homeschoolers during MAFA’s Master Institute Enrichment Spring Fling classes in March and April 2008.

Students will learn fundamental museum practices, discuss collecting, write labels, and create 3D gallery models during the 6 week Spring Fling session.
The class meets six Thursdays, March 20, 2008, through April 24, 2008, from 10:50am-12:20pm. Enrollment is open to students who do not attend Master's Academy of Fine Arts. Registration deadline is March 6, 2008. For registration information please contact the Master’s Academy of the Fine Arts at 215-429-6789 or visit www.mafa-qtown.org.

As part of the Master’s Institute enrichment classes, Spring Fling courses offer an average of ¼ credit for high school students and are available for students not enrolled in the Master’s Academy. The Master's Academy of Fine Arts is an exposure level program which serves as the first step in a multi-phased approach to teaching the arts to homeschooled students ages 4-18. The mission at The Master's Academy of Fine Arts is to bring the most excellent, Christian-based, fine arts program available to the homeschool community. For information about the Master’s Academy of the Fine Arts, contact Chris Ugi, Director, 215-429-6786 or visit www.mafa-qtown.org.

The Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center was founded in 1884 as an informal collection in a private home to assure the preservation of the Schwenkfelders' cultural identity. Today the Heritage Center, a not-for-profit organization, is still preserving, interpreting, and documenting the history of this German Protestant group, along with the history of the Upper Perkiomen Valley. The Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; Thursdays 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm; and Sundays 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The Heritage Center is closed to the public on Mondays. For additional information call 215-679-3103 or visit our website www.schwenkfelder.com
