Horses Can Be Fun!
Pennsburg, PA - Penn State Cooperative Extension and the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center announce the one day camp, "Horses Can Be Fun!" to be held Tuesday, August 12, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm at the Heritage Center, 105 Seminary Street, Pennsburg.

Have you ever caught your child pretending to be a horse, jumping over chairs and trotting around the backyard? Does your son or daughter have an interest in horses and ever begged for a pony? "Horses Can Be Fun!" is just the place for all boys and girls who are interested in learning more about horse care and management - whether they have or horse or not.
Even if there won't be a pony in your young one's future, "Horses Can Be Fun!" is the day camp for your child. Topics will included safety around horses, grooming, how to saddle and bridle a horse, breeds, and basic equine health care. Plus fun activities such as a "horseless horse show" where campers can earn ribbons while learning about showing. There will also be crafts and a community service project as part of the events.

The cost of the program is $15.00 which includes instruction, activities, supplies and written materials. Campers will need to provide their own lunches and drinks. Enrollment is very limited. To enroll or for information, please call the Heritage Center at 215-679-3103 and speak with Museum Educator Rebecca Lawrence - or visit www.schwenkfelder.com for more information.

The Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center was founded in 1884 as an informal collection in a private home to assure the preservation of the Schwenkfelders' cultural identity. Today the Heritage Center, a not-for-profit organization, is still preserving, interpreting, and documenting the history of this German Protestant group, along with the history of the Upper Perkiomen Valley. The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; Thursdays 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm; and Sundays 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The Heritage Center is closed to the public on Mondays. For additional information call 215-679-3103 or visit our website www.schwenkfelder.com .
