The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is pleased to offer the following volunteer opportunities to individuals and groups with a desire to help us fulfill our mission:
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Position: Front Desk Receptionist
Our volunteer front desk receptionists greet all incoming visitors, provides general information to the public in person and over the phone, provide customer service and retail sales to visitors in gift shop, and maintain brochure racks. Hours can be weekday morning or afternoon shifts, once a week or every other week.

Position: Gardening
Our grounds make our first impression. Help to keep them looking great through periodic weeding and watering of flower beds and occasional clean-up of shrubs. Flexible schedule could be set for spring through fall.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Position: Mailing Assistant
Prefer infrequent volunteer hours but enjoy light office work? We need help to address and stuff envelopes for our newsletter, Annual Campaign, and other mailing projects.

LIBRARY & ARCHIVES
Position: Cataloguing and Inventorying
We are looking for a small number of people to possibly volunteer or intern in the library and archival collections who have an interest in cataloging books, inventorying archival collections, scanning photographs and manuscripts, and genealogical research, among other things. Some basic digitization skills and knowledge of German (especially, German script) would be advantageous but not mandatory.

Position: Genealogy Research
Are you interested in Schwenkfelder genealogy, specifically? Volunteers or interns may also work with members of the Society of the Descendants of the Schwenkfeldian Exiles (the “Exile Society”) creating updates of family genealogies, and possibly even working on research into Schwenkfelder family history. The files are maintained by the Exile Society to keep records of the descendants of the Schwenkfelder immigrants as current as possible.
